Would a computor purchased contained by the US work contained by the UK?

I be thinking of having a relative ship a computor to me and except the power cable of course, what componets would I want to change? Also what give or take a few import/export duties or taxes?

Hi. I think you involve more than a power cable. You need a process to step the voltage down and change the frequency (50 HZ to 60 HZ). Some machines may be switchable but I would check. The law concerning Export Control need to be met as economically.
Assuming you change the power supply to 240V (most enjoy a slide switch on the back) and you change Windows settings to UK (You don't own to do that) then yes it will work.

Do NOT plug the workstation in if it does not allow you to put the voltage to 240V - you will blow it up lol
The computer would work but i dont know something like the rest
As far as the power standards are concerned, whatever the potential difference the destination country have, you can use the power adaptotrs for fixing any issue. And in crust of shipping, as you must have rewarded the taxes and warranty charges, there must not be any issue concerning taxes. But you will have to reward the shipping charges. If the computer that you want to shift is from a renowned brand, the receiver would not frontage any kind of warranty issues altogether, as the onsite services are one provided these days.
I deduce you would be better buying a used computer there.

I do follow your thought. Computers are a lot cheaper within the USA than in Engand. Those Brits duty the hell out of everything.
