Windows 98?

I hold an older computer. I obligation to replace the hard drive within it. It was running Win 98. Remember, this is an antiquated computer. Will a newer concrete drive work with it? How would I step about making this computer compatible near a newer hard drive? Is it worth it? Or should I second-hand goods it?

By the way, the elder processor is more likely to be a problem (slow!).
Go ahead and replace it it will work.
Hard drives haven't changed too much. The gb size is bigger and the revolutions are faster. Your elderly hd was probably 4500 rpm so your system could probably toy with the next one up.

If you're going to reinstall Win98, the unyielding drive isn't going to matter too much. But, remember that Win98 is not supported by Microsoft anymore and newer programs will slow it down.

A lot depends on what you're going to be doing next to it.
New computer has no problems running elder programs . It will run Windows 95, but you are hardly asking it to do anything for the power you enjoy.

Me I push the older machines and enjoy Win98 on a 486. Unfortunately I have run out of Hard drive memory. I am running XP sp1 on a Pentium II (another ripened machine and again low on the memory)with dick adjectives in my contraption.

You can do it, would advise you to capture XP though, it is a world of difference over 98 in allay of operation.
The only problem you may encounter is the IDE cable. The newer drives {some} require 80 pin and the elder cables are 40 pin. Other than that it will work if you stay away from sata drives. It is worth it if it does the point for you. I always wondered why everyone requirements a fast computer to check email?
