Why doesn't my workstation counter to moving mouse when contained by stand-by?

contained by the last week, i notice that my computer, after i put it in stand-by mode, doesn't act in response to anything(moving mouse, or pressing keys).

the only solution is to press the reset button...

As far as I know when a computer is in sleep mode you hold to press the power button. To change these settings right click on your desktop and the display properties box open. At the bottom click the power button and you will see all the settings you entail to change to suit your individual wants.
