Why would a 16x Memorex DVD burner pilfer 4x's as long to burn equal DVD as an 8x Generic DVD burner?

I own 2 machines, both have transposable processors and 3GB of Low Latency RAM.

Machine 1:

Custom Machine

Memorex 16x DVD Burner

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB

AMD 4200+ Socket 939 2.2Ghz Dual Core X2 Proc

Raptor 10k RPM drives in RAID 0

Windows XP Pro OS

Nero Suite Used for Burning and copying

Machine 2

Gateway Machine

AMD 4200+ Socket 939 2.2Ghz Dual Core X2 Proc

3GB Low Latency RAM

Gereric DVD Burner 8x

Windows XP Pro OS

Nero Suite for DVD burning and copying

What would produce Machine 1 to take 4x's as long to copy and burn like DVD as Machine 2 can do?

I've seen this problem earlier with my own system. Your 16x Memorex burner is probably have an issue with the medium. Try different media to see if you're have the same problem. Also, you should try 16x medium.
amount of hard drive space available, number of processes running at time of burning, possible virus/spyware/adware, could be various problems.
Because machine 1 is a custom electrical device and is not configured the same / as resourcefully as 2.
